Secure Payments Policy
1. CHECKOUT SECURITY Checking out should be as easy and safe as strolling down our snack aisle. Trader Joe’s utilizes industry-leading 256-bit Secure Socket Layer (SSL) encryption to protect your personal and financial information. We are fully PCI-DSS compliant, meaning your credit card data is securely tokenized and never stored directly on our servers.
2. ACCEPTED PAYMENT METHODS We accept a variety of convenient payment methods to fund your grocery run:
- Credit & Debit Cards: Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover.
- Digital Wallets: Apple Pay, Google Pay, and PayPal for a seamless mobile checkout.
- EBT SNAP (Electronic Benefit Transfer): We are proud to support the USDA’s SNAP Online Purchasing Pilot in eligible states. You may use your EBT card to pay for eligible grocery and baby food items. (Note: EBT funds cannot be applied to shipping fees, taxes, or non-food merchandise).
3. WEIGHT-BASED PRICING & AUTHORIZATION HOLDS For items sold by the pound (such as fresh produce, artisan cheeses, or meats), the exact weight of the item picked for your order may vary slightly from the estimated weight shown in your cart.
- Upon checkout, we will place a temporary authorization hold on your card for 110% of your estimated total.
- Once your custom order is picked, weighed, and packed, your card will only be charged for the exact weight of the groceries you receive.
- Any remaining authorized funds are immediately released back to your account (processing times vary from 1–3 business days depending on your bank).
4. FRAUD PREVENTION To protect our community from unauthorized charges, the billing address provided at checkout must perfectly match the address on file with your bank or credit card issuer. If our system detects a mismatch or an unusually high-risk transaction, your order may be temporarily paused, and a Crew Member will reach out to verify your details.
